3 Ways to Make your Private Office your Own

#1 | Bring Small Reminders of Home

You can make a private office feel like your own by decorating with photos of loved ones or some of your favorite small knick-knacks. Need a place to hang your Kindergartener’s drawing? Find a nice frame and stick it on your office wall. Is your desk looking bare? Your “World’s Best Dog-Mom” coffee mug doubles as a great pen holder. Not only do these treasured items remind you of where you’re from and why you do the work that you do, but they could also serve as good conversation starters with clients. Make sure that these items are tasteful and work-friendly (leave the old Spring Break photos at home), not used in excess (the phrase “less is more” applies here), and fitting with the style of your office (items that are too large or flashy could draw attention away from you and your business).

#2 | Add a Level of Comfort

Sometimes office spaces, even ones that are well-decorated, can feel a little cold or empty. Make your space feel more
“home-y” by adding some items that bring you comfort. Some ideas include a soft blanket that you can fold and hang on the back of your office chair, a plush and fuzzy rug, or some chic throw pillows to be placed around the office chairs.

#3 | Up your Office-Supply Game

Who says a stapler can’t be representative of your personality? A great way to add some of your own flair to your space is by replacing some of your boring, everyday office supplies with ones in your favorite colors or that match your office decor. Find a planner with some fun patterns, a paperweight that is in an interesting shape, or a mousepad with your name on it (literally!). Some stores sell unique desktop supply kits, such as this one from Amazon, to make your accessorizing easier.
